Who said rafting season doesn't start until April or May? With Alpacka Packrafts, we don't need a ton of water or even big rapids to have a good time on the river. Warm temps are always nice, but certainly aren't required!
Last week we had a couple of adventurous ladies do a Canyoneering and Packrafting trip with us. The forecast called for a high in the mid-40's, but that didn't make them think twice about donning wetsuits and paddling down the mighty Colorado with water temps also in the mid-40's. Bbrrrrr!
We started out the day in the Medieval Chamber which includes a simul-rappel off of Morning Glory Arch. These ladies walked out on top of the arch (with their guide Evan) and rappelled off of opposite sides, serving as each other's anchors. This is such a unique experience and Desert Highlights is the only company in Moab to offer this awesome rappel!
After the canyon, we ate lunch on the river, debated whether or not we needed wetsuits (we learned pretty quickly that our debate was not necessary!), inflated our boats and each hopped into our own Packraft. A few splashes here and there gave some of us a slight chill, but wow, what an experience to have just before the busy season begins! The river was empty, which is a sight to see considering the hoards of people that float this section in the summer.
Interested in trying your hand at rappelling or seeing what these cool little boats are all about? Give us a shout and we'll take you on an adventure you're sure not to forget - no matter the time of year!
